Fashion is constantly evolving and revolving. It’s hard to predict what the next big hit will be and what dreaded old trend will reemerge. In this British Pathé clip from 1939, fashion designers predict what the future of fashion will be. There’s a focus on temperature-controlled clothing, removable sleeves and adjustable-length gowns.

Some of the outfits shown are not too far off the mark, though. In one clip a woman wears a romper with a cinched waist, and another suggests that men will carry a telephone on them at all times.
